World Class 5G, 6G & AI

Wireless Engineering & Standards Leadership

PrimeLime consulting delivers industry-leading consulting, standards development, and hands-on research for industries advancing 5G, 6G, and AI-driven wireless communications.

We help organizations navigate the complexities of 5G NR, 5G-Advanced, private wireless networks, non-terrestrial networks (NTN), and emerging 6G technologies – whether that is benchmarking a network, designing a new deployment, or evaluating AI implementations in wireless networks and devices. As an active 3GPP delegate in RAN and SA working groups, we bring direct standards expertise to our consulting practice.

Here’s some of the organizations and companies we’ve worked with.

End-to-End Engineering Services

Private Network Expertise

PrimeLime is deeply involved in private wireless networks, having consulted and helped create a new band for Anterix that enables utilities to deploy their own private 5G networks. We helped forge the First Responders Network Authority (FirstNet) and have been involved with Public Safety broadband since its inception. Having worked with multiple Federal agencies, including the FCC, NTIA, NIST, FAA and state and local municipalities, we understand the intricacies of spectrum, networks, deployment and operation of networks. We also assist with CBRS spectrum and emerging NTN technologies for private enterprises and municipalities.

Benchmarking

With Signals Research Group, we continually benchmark and evaluate 5G-Advanced and emerging networks worldwide, including evaluating SpaceX's direct-to-cell capabilities. Our benchmarking covers operators like Telstra, SK Telecom, T-Mobile, Verizon, and dozens of other networks globally - in addition to directly supporting Apple, Meta, Google and Samsung. Our partnerships with leading test organizations like Wireless Metrix, Rohde & Schwarz and Keysight allow us to evaluate the latest 5G-Advanced and 6G prototype devices and networks.

Industry Analyst

As VP of Networks at Signals Research Group (SRG), Emil Olbrich serves as an industry analyst conducting thought-leading field research across the global wireless landscape. Working alongside SRG founder Mike Thelander, Emil delivers independent analysis to the largest mobile operators, equipment OEMs, trade associations, and financial institutions in the wireless industry.

Standards and Technology Development

We actively evaluate AI implementations in wireless networks and devices, and participate in the design of 5G and 6G standards through 3GPP and AIRAN working groups, bringing cutting-edge research directly to our consulting practice. As a 3GPP delegate to RAN and SA working groups, Emil Olbrich helped lead the development of the 3 MHz channel bandwidth for 5G NR, enabling private wireless networks for utilities and critical industries.

Our Expertise

Emil is founder of PrimeLime and an active 3GPP delegate in RAN and SA working groups where he helped lead the development of the 3 MHz channel bandwidth for 5G NR – now used by Anterix, SouthernLinc, Rakuten, UIC railways in Europe, and multiple NTN deployments for direct-to-cell 5G. He is VP of Networks at Signals Research Group where he benchmarks SpaceX Starlink and leading 5G-Advanced networks worldwide. Emil is also an instructor at 6G-Academy (formerly 5G-Courses.com) where he teaches 6G technology courses to companies and government agencies.

He has over 25 years of experience in the field of wireless telecommunications where he has led team efforts in standards work, development and deployments at some of the largest telecommunication companies in the world – such as Motorola, Qualcomm and Ericsson. He was head of LTE research, development, test and evaluation for the US Department of Commerce technology labs where he deployed the first and most diverse Public Safety 700 MHz LTE test lab in the world with over 70 participating vendors and commercial carriers. Mr. Olbrich was responsible for the specifying, deploying and maintaining the entire ecosystem of LTE which included devices, air interface, transport, radio access network, evolved packet core, IP networking, IMS core and application servers.

Today, Emil is at the forefront of next-generation wireless technologies. As a 3GPP delegate, he participates in the design of 6G through 3GPP and AIRAN working groups and actively evaluates AI implementations in wireless networks and devices. His work in the private wireless space includes consulting for Anterix, where he helped create a new band that enables utilities to deploy their own private 5G networks. He continues to benchmark cutting-edge networks worldwide in conjunction with Signals Research Group, evaluating SpaceX direct-to-cell capabilities and the latest 5G-Advanced features across global operators.
